I asked you last week if now is a good time to buy, well this week, I’m asking you if you should sell your home right now? Well again, the simple answer to that is, yes!
I’m sure you haven’t arrived at the decision lightly, so sticking with your plans to sell your property, is most definitely the way to go. This virus is just putting everything on hold right now, but it won’t be here forever!
Imagine how many people will be tired of being confined within their four walls, and reflecting over dreams they’ve had, that haven’t yet been fulfilled. They’ll be realizing how important it is to, “live for today!” And as soon as flights are operating again, and the lockdown is over, those buyers will be heading to our shores.
Whilst you’re in isolation, this is the ideal time to start the process of preparing your home for sale.
You can start with these 4 things:
1. CLEAN; all light fixtures and replace burnt-out bulbs. Consider changing to brighter bulbs if the fixture is rated for higher wattage than your current bulbs. Dead bugs and cobwebs detract from the appeal of the home and often indicate neglect to buyers.
2. REARRANGE FURNITURE; to create more space. You may need to remove furniture from a room in order to open it up, but consider simply moving things around in creative ways.
3. CUT THE CLUTTER; remove magnets, pictures, and souvenirs from the refrigerator. Use the general two-thirds rule: remove 2/3 of everything on any flat surface in your home. Since you are already planning to move, this is a great time to get your donations ready, and get rid of things you don’t need or want, as soon as the lockdown has been lifted.
4. MAKE IT EASY TO GET INTO THE HOME; by ensuring that the lock functions freely, hinges swing smoothly and it doesn’t sound like entering a haunted house because of squeaky hardware. Lubricate the hinges and use spray in the lock.
By using your isolation time effectively, you’ll be ahead of the game, and as soon as we are set “free” again, you’ll be ready to list your home on the market quicker than anybody else!
This virus will pass, but in the meantime, we need to keep the local economy moving. Support your local business!
